REVIEW:
Forest Lake Country Club was built back in the 1920's and is a private club that has been a favorite of the Detroit auto industry crowd over the years. It is a beautiful track that has stood the test of time. Fritz McMullen, the Course Superintendent, has maintained the course in immaculate condition for the past 30 years. It is obvious that it is a labor of love for him and his fine maintenance staff. The course, while not long is still very challenging and requires golfers to call on all parts of their game if they are to score in the 70's. John Pershern, the Head Pro, took time from his busy schedule to play with us while we reviewed the course. He made sure that all our needs were met and helped guide us around with welcome pointers on how to play each hole. The greens were in perfect shape and were some of the most challenging we have faced in a long time. The weather was a little chilly as can happen sometimes in early May in Michigan but overall we had an absolutely memorable day of golf. After our round of golf we were treated to a wonderful lunch in their restaurant. What more could we ask for. Forest Lake Country Club is currently open to apply for membership and should be on the top of the list for any golfer looking to be a member of one of the oldest and best golf clubs in the Detroit area.
