REVIEW:
GolfTest
USA had the opportunity to play the Golf Club at Vistoso
this past winter. Vistoso was designed by Tom Weiskopf and
is nestled among an upscale development in Tucson, AZ. Vistoso
lives up to the postcard views of even the most famous Arizona
desert golf courses. However, it's 75 mile distance from
the Scottsdale/Phoenix area make it significantly less expensive
alternative for top notch golf in Arizona. As a course,
Vistoso is a double threat. This means that it has an excellent
design and is beautifully maintained & conditioned.
Vistoso is also extremely challenging with forced carries,
lengthy par threes/fours, target fairway/greens and deep
bunkers. Our only criticism was the very shallow nature
of the sand in the bunkers. It made explosion shots impossible
and getting it up & down futile. However, there are
plenty of magnificent facets to this course that offset
any differences we had with it.
We think that all members of the golfing public will thoroughly
enjoy Vistoso.
RATING:
GolfTest USA recommends Vistoso as a "Elite"
golf course in the Tucson area.
